Below are some very informative videos from 2024 of previous club speakers.
Previous Speakers:
June 4th was an evening meeting. Jonathan Knepp from the Thompson Free Library joined us as the speaker. The Library is presently in a fund-raising project to be able digitally archive over 100 years of the Piscataquis Observer so that patrons, researchers, and our great-great grandchildren can have access to the ‘stories of the day’ from long ago. Come hear him talk with us about the program and how you might be able to help. Our Kiwanis Club has already donated to the project!
May 28th was a morning meeting. We had Laurie Bowen from the University of Maine’s Cooperative Extension Service talk with us about the “One-Tomato” project.
Tuesday, May 21st was a morning meeting with breakfast at FA at 6:15 followed by a very informative speaker at 6:30. Brent Watson, RN, CEN, Director of Critical Care Nursing at NL Mayo Hospital. In that role he manages all of the non-physician elements in our Emergency Department and our Intensive Care Unit. He’s also the regional director for EMS services for Mayo—with direct oversight for our bases in Dover-Foxcroft, Dexter, and Corinth.
On Tuesday, April 2, 2024 Chris Maas spoke to the Kiwanis Club of Dover-Foxcroft about the Mayo Dam Feasibility Study and upcoming referendum question. Additionally information on the study can be found here.
On Tuesday, March 26, 2024 Shawn Laatsch, Director, Versant Power Astronomy Center, spoke to the Kiwanis Club of Dover-Foxcroft about the Total Solar Eclipse on April 8, 2024 (the Kiwanis Park provided a safe viewing spot for many locals and non-locals alike for this once in a lifetime opportunity). You can learn more about Shawn and his work here.
