On May 26, the 46^th annual Piscataquis River Race “finally” happened. Although the number of participants was down this year I feel their enthusiasm more than made up for the lack of numbers. I believe it made the terrific group of Kiwanians feel that it was a morning well spent.

            There were 28 boats and 41 racers all sent off “en mass” by Paul Davis. Fastest down the river was Ben Randall who shares the Bob Darling Memorial trophy with a very impressive young man Nolan Mabee.

Summer is in the air…and the annual Dover-Foxcroft Kiwanis Auction is right around the corner. The Annual Kiwanis Auction will be held July 26-29 with all the old traditions and exciting events you look forward to each year.
The annual auction has been in existence for nearly 70 years and is one of Piscataquis County’s most waited for events –three nights of meeting up with old friends, a frenzy of bidding on bargains galore, great food, and a chance to help Kiwanis support the kids of our community through their many projects….just a “win-win” event for everyone involved.

Foxcroft Academy Senior and Key Club member Jin Lin (Wayne) Chen presented a video and talk about the recent 2018 VEX Robotics Maine State Championship won by the FA Robotics team ... in its first year of competition. Jin Lin -- who is headed to MIT after graduation -- said funds to purchase component parts, experience and communication skills are essential for success. The team consisted of a team leader, a driver and repair crew during actual competition. Several of the team members will be returning next year and Jin Lin promised to help out with next year's team as much as he can.
